Home School Legal Defense Association is a non-profit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional rights of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms.

HSLDA has heard from many of its affiliated groups regarding the need for insurance that provides coverage for their special events and protects their students during routine group activities.  Many groups said they could not find this coverage anywhere.  To help address this need, HSLDA sought out, and found insurance professionals who were willing to help the homeschool community.

To keep coverage affordable, HSLDA agreed to sponsor the Master Policies.  Groups who sign up for coverage under this program are issued Certificates of Insurance under the Master Policies.  HSLDA receives no monetary benefit from this service.  Their objective is to make affordable, quality insurance coverage available to HSLDA affiliated groups who desire the protections offered under this program.

Special Markets Insurance Consultants, Inc. (SMIC) is a nationally recognized provider of insurance coverage for the youth, sports, recreational and religious market for the various programs offered throughout the United States.  SMIC maintains insurance licenses in all 50 states.  SMIC acts as the national marketing representative for HSLDA.

The HSLDA Support Group and State & Regional Group Programs are administered by NCG Insurance, an independent insurance broker located in Northern Virginia that manages Property & Casualty insurance programs for hundreds of schools and non-profit organizations
